Audits
Under the conditions of the NRC license, a license holder must permit NRC
inspection of the facilities and operations pertaining to the use of radioactive
materials and must assist the NRC personnel in conducting the inspections.
The timing of the inspections is typically unannounced, and violations may subject
the license holders to fines and/or interruptions in operations.
In essence, the only mechanism to provide a reasonable degree of assurance that the
facilities and operations are in compliance and are likely to pass the inspections
is to conduct periodic internal inspections (audits).
Our
qualified and experienced health physicists
will review all aspects of your radiation
protection program and compare it to existing
or proposed regulations and industry standards.
We also take into account so-called "good
practices" perspective when the regulations
are unclear or nonexistent. Such approach
allows us to anticipate possible objections
of the NRC personnel during the actual inspection.
Since PHP began operating in 1995, not one
of our clients was cited or fined by the NRC!
And we want to keep it that way.
As a result of our audit, you will receive a full written report along with our
recommendations for program modifications. The audit report includes, but is not
limited to, the evaluation of existing written procedures and documents and the
rendering of an opinion on whether or not they comply with the requirements of the
radioactive materials license and the applicable sections of the Code of Federal
Regulations Title 10, an inspection of areas where licensed activities take place and
the rendering of an opinion on whether or not these meet the requirements of the
radioactive materials license and applicable sections of the Code of
Federal Regulations Title 10.
